When thinking about Internet homeschooling, many different options come to mind. Someone can use an online homeschool course for their full curriculum or someone else can just use a website each day to learn a concept like typing or spelling. There are a wide range of resources available that can be used for homeschooling. Parents can take advantage of these resources and either supplement their course of study or get a course or complete curriculum. Most of this depends on the goals of the parent and how much time they want their children spending in front of a computer screen. Online Courses - There are accredited homeschool programs that can be found online. These programs offer students the option of taking one course or an entire year's worth of courses online. Parents have to pay for this service either by course or for a full year's tuition. Many parents like this option because all the grading and record keeping is taken care of and the students have to answer to their online teachers. There is a cost, but is an option that can be taken. Many times students who are athletes, singers or entertainers choose this option because they can do their schoolwork online wherever they happen to be traveling at the time. Supplemental Curriculum - There are many free resources online that parents can use to help supplement the books and resources they are already using. Parents can use a search engine to find a certain ebook or information on the area that they want to supplement. They can find all kinds of materials from virtual tours to timed math tests that their children can use to view an area of the world that they can't visit or to improve their math scores. Free Courses Online - You can often find free online courses like typing, spelling, and various language resources. Many times other homeschoolers can make you aware of these resources or you can search online to find one that is a good fit for your family. Paid Resources - Some websites offer services like science experiments and interactive learning for preschoolers that can be used online after you pay a monthly fee. Often these are very high quality courses that are well worth the monthly membership cost. There are ebooks that can be used to find Internet resources for homeschooling. People have taken the time to research all the subjects and grade resources available online and put them all into one book. You can then scroll through the book by subject area and find many great resources without having to do all the searching yourself.
